  • One of the most common questions I get from people — especially when they start including more fruit and veg — is:

“But where will I get my protein?”

Let me tell you a story.

A few months ago, an allopathic doctor joined my Zen membership. She was diabetic and came to me because she wanted to reverse her diabetes naturally. In our first session, she looked at me and asked, a bit skeptically, “But what about my protein?”

I gently asked her: “In your 20 years of medical practice, have you ever treated a patient for protein deficiency? Have you ever seen someone hospitalized because they didn’t eat enough protein?”

She paused for a moment. Then her eyes widened with a flash of realization.

    “Not once,” she said, softly.

    We’ve Been Fed a Lie

For decades, the marketing machine has convinced us that protein is essential, and the only way to get it is through:
    – Dead animal flesh
    – Dairy products
    – Processed protein powders and bars

But here’s the truth: Your body doesn’t even use protein in its whole form. It can’t.

It must first break it down into simple amino acids to be of any use. This process:
    – Takes up energy (instead of giving you energy)
    – Produces acidic waste (like ammonia)
    – Stresses your digestion, liver, and kidneys

You don’t need protein. You need amino acids. And you can get them, in perfect proportion, from fruits, vegetables, herbs, seeds and nuts.

The World’s Strongest Animals Are Plant-Eaters

Whenever someone asks me about protein, I also invite them to think critically.

We are primates, just like chimpanzees and gorillas. Look at them in the wild — muscular, fast, and full of life.

🦍 Have you ever seen a gorilla drinking whey protein shakes or chewing on chicken breasts?

    And let’s go beyond primates.

🐘 The elephant — the strongest land mammal
🦒 The giraffe — the tallest
🐎 The horse — the animal we literally measure power by (horsepower!)

All of them thrive on plants. So, why are we so obsessed with getting protein from meat, fish, eggs, paneer and supplements?

Could it be that we’ve been conditioned to believe this, rather than it being a truth of nature?

The Biochemistry You Were Never Told

Your body builds muscle, enzymes, neurotransmitters and hormones from simple amino acids, not meat, eggs, chicken, fish, milk, curd, cheese or other dairy products. It also doesn’t run on protein for energy — not even a little.

And amino acids are in plenty in fresh fruits and vegetables. Don’t believe me? Google it — “Which amino acids are found in fruits?”

Fruits contain all 20 amino acids, including the 9 essential ones that the body cannot produce. It’s a misconception that fruits are missing specific essential amino acids.

    Real Energy Comes from Carbohydrates

Not protein. Not fat. Every single cell in your body runs on glucose and oxygen.

That’s why a mother’s breast milk — the gold standard of nutrition — is highest in carbohydrates, not protein.

1 cup of human breast milk =
    ✅ 17g carbohydrates
    ✅ 11g fat
    ❌ Just 2.5g protein

If this much is enough for a baby who doubles their weight in 4–6 months why would fully grown humans needs more?

You certainly don’t want to double your weight do you?

The body prefers carbohydrates for energy — especially from fruits. Every cell needs sugar (carbon-based) to create ATP — the energy of life.

Nature is trying to tell us something… are we listening?

    But What About Muscle?

Muscle isn’t built from “eating flesh.” It’s built from having:
    – Clean digestion
    – Efficient amino acid use
    – Healthy hormone production
    – Regular exercise and strength building

A banana has all 8 essential amino acids. Fruits, vegetables, greens, nuts, coconut, seeds — these build you without burdening you.

Why Meat is Not a Magic Food (It’s Actually a Stimulant)

    Let’s talk plainly.

    Dead animal flesh:
    – Putrefies in the body, causing body odour and toxicity
    – Produces acidic ash that damages tissues and bones
    – Burdens the kidneys, liver, and lymphatic system
    – Contains adrenaline, which gives you a false “high” but burns out your adrenal glands over time
    – Is inflammatory, leading to disease, cholesterol buildup, and calcification of joints and arteries

It doesn’t energize you — it stimulates you. And stimulants always come with a crash.

    What You Can Do Instead

    If you truly want to:
    – Build lean, natural muscle
    – Have long-lasting energy
    – Heal from inflammation
    – Support your kidneys, adrenals, liver and heart…

    Here’s what works:

✅ Eat living foods: Plenty of fresh juicy fruits and vegetables, some tender greens and small quantities of herbs, soaked nuts and seeds
✅ Let go of the protein obsession — and observe how your digestion, energy, and even emotions shift
✅ Reconnect with your body — trust how you feel after a fruit or salad meal vs a cheese, paneer, egg or a meat-heavy one
✅ Think for yourself — trust your intuition and how your body feels more than what mainstream media or “experts” tell you.

    Ask Yourself…

Have you ever seen someone suffer from protein deficiency?

    But you’ve probably seen:
    – People on dialysis (from kidney overload)
    – People with high cholesterol and blood pressure
    – People with high uric acid and joint pains
    – Fatigue, brain fog, hormonal imbalances

It’s time we stop chasing a myth — and start trusting Mother Nature and your body.

With truth, clarity, and a big serving of critical thinking,
